If the decision is between this and the Project Nomad guide, please opt for this one. It still doesn't compare to better guide companies, but I think it's enough for a few days in the beautiful city of Kiev, especially when the number of guides is lacking. There is a good amount of honest practical information on topics like taxis and shopping. A lot of the guide is dedicated to sample itineraries for exploring the city, which having come back from Kiev, were actually pretty useful with one's own adjustments according to personal taste. Don't expect tons on restaurants/accommodations but I don't really use guidebooks for that when online resources are usually more useful.
I am very familiar with Kiev and several of the attractions and restaurants this short book recommends. Very good at transportation issues as well. Highly recommended.
