Each number starts off with drills to help the student understand the concept of multiplication with each number (1-9). These drills do not have detailed explanations but have simple instructions and is intuitive to follow. Following the drills are test review multiplications sheets. First one starting with an orderly multiplication of the numbers, then the next page is random problems all within the same digit. After, they test multiple numbers together to be tested on (ie: 6,7 & 8). I would recommend this book for parents who believe in repetition to learn multiplication (*what most people grew up on and Kumons method). If you want a book that goes deeply into conceptual parts of multiplication, look elsewhere.

Great book for multiplication drills. However, if your child is just learning multiplication. It might be best to combine this book with Kumon's other book: "My Book of SIMPLE Multiplication". Together, these books give the child the foundation and the repetition they need to become masters.

My 2nd grade boy just loves it. It is a great introductory book for them. However, it doesn't really introduce the concept too much. It is more about practice their memorization.

Did this as part of my 2 to 3 graders summer school curriculum. Was excellent. We did a page or two a day and it really have him a boost into 3rd grade.

Love Kumon products. Have been using them for over 3 years now for our children. The repetition has helped them memorize and retain times tables and get so much quicker at addition, subtraction and many other topics.

Good for practice once you make kids learn multiplication tables. Instead of searching and printing math sheets to practice multiplication, it's easy to buy this and make them practice. Unless that, I don't see any other use.

We bought these to work on over summer and my kids actually like them. They do a couple pages a day. I would highly recommend them!

My kid loves it a lot

Goes into the philosophy of economics. One of the best books I have read on these subjects. Highly recommend the book."BookLife by Publishers Weekly - Robert Simpson"Step up and read this fine resource published at a time when everyone needs to know how the financial milieu works."goodreads - Grady Harp"The Money Deception - What Banks & Governments Don't Want You to Know written by Thomas Herold is an amazing book full of great and factual information. This book was well thought out and explained in very great detail the beginnings of currency, debt, loans and how our current financial system is in trouble, as the financial systems in place, are failing. Although many may think this book speaks a lot of conspiracy theory, it is actually backed up by facts. The author does suggest a few different things that could be great options to our currently declining financial systems, such as Bitcoin and Universal Basic Income. Overall this was a great read and I suggest that everyone read through it as it is full of very useful and interesting information."goodreads - Denise Lucas

Before I bought and read , I mentally pictured author Thomas Herold as a whistle blower warning the public of tricks being played on the people by governments and banks. (About this I was right, up to a point). I wanted to read what he had to say on his subject. As an aside, I had never heard of Mr. Herold before I came upon this book during a search for something to read.Early in the book the author calls attention to what he sees as a great inequity - one percent of the population controls fifty percent of all the wealth. He believes that the U.S. dollar is being destroyed and that the U.S. Federal Reserve (our central bank) is hiding that fact. (pg. 14). Mr. Herold states that it is his intent to show that our monetary system must be changed into one that creates wealth for everyone and not just the top one percent. (pg. 16).Next he writes a short history of money, debt and inflation that goes right on up to the credit card. Then he goes into HIS specifics of the "Destructive Results of the Current Monetary System." (pgs. 50-57). Included among them are moral decline, health decline and spiritual decline. The author also calls attention to "The Magic of Interest" and its benefits (?) to our banking system and its owners/investors. This reviewer found much interest in the author's money figures of the costs to the taxpayer of the 2008-2009 bank bailout. I suspect that other readers will too.Beginning with Chapter II Mr. Herold goes into considerable detail setting out his 21 methods by which the banking system and certain human failings "legally steal your money." He devotes just under 100 pages to this list. I found them to be informative and interesting. He caps it all off with his summary of our current monetary system, which summary can be disagreed with by reasonable persons.Next comes Chapter IV which encompasses Money and Wealth, especially wealth and it various forms. Readers might note that the author appears to have skipped Chapter III. However it soon becomes apparent that the book has two Chapter IVs. The 2nd Chap. IV goes into "Metaphysics" which includes discussions of such as "Separation vs. Oneness" and "From Fear to Love." All I can say about that is, some will find value in it and others won't. I admit that it didn't mean a lot to this reviewer. The last Chapter, (V), speaks of the future, including topics like "Universal Basic Income," and technology including crypto-currencies and bitcoins. On pgs. 261-263 is the author's "Afterword." It contains some of his thoughts pertaining to money, connectedness, and societal unfairness. My Own Perceptions. This is not at all a bad book. Readers are likely to find value in it, but might disagree on which parts are valuable. I believe that Mr. Herold is sincere in his beliefs. HOWEVER, what will cause some readers to deny that this could ever be viewed as a serious work are: The errors in spelling and punctuation. There are places where the author uses "cooperation" when I suspect that he might mean "corporation." And as already mentioned there are errors in the numbering of chapters. I am sorry that better editing and advice seem not to have been available to the author. In my opinion this could have been a better book with more attention to detail and content. (Of course the same could be said about many books that have been published).

In this book, The Money Deception, the author, Mr. Thomas Herold, raises the red flag ; He is alarmed by what is going on in our financial system which he thinks is on the verge of collapsing. Although the focus is mostly on the US the repercussions are worldwide; after all, the USA is now the dominant economic force affecting the entire world .The author is perhaps justified in declaring this warning, The financial meltdown of 2008 is still fresh in our minds, and to the author it was only the tip of the iceberg. But what other indicators are there to justify his fears? The US huge debt is a major worry especially when we discover that the Government pays in excess of $400 billion in interest on the debt - every year !! It is clear that the Government cannot go on paying such astounding amounts indefinitely. In the wake of the 2008 crisis, to save itself from bankruptcy, the US paid leading banks in excess of $16 trillion - the biggest bailout ever! This itself had a huge impact on the overall debt burden. This author (who has written ten books on finance) believes there is something desperately wrong with the current financial system. Inequality, for instance, is now greater than ever before; 82% of the wealth generated last year went to the richest 1% of the global population !! One percent of the population now controls 50% of all wealth. To add insult to injury, 23% of people over 65 live in poverty, and around 80% of those who reached retirement age say they cannot afford to retire. This is not only shocking but shameful and outright disturbing. The economic system is dangerously close to collapsing and the general public is hardly aware of it.While the author bemoans this current US system and how it is manipulated by government and banks to the disadvantage of the average citizen, he struggles to suggest better solutions for the future. The Bitcoin system, which does not require a central bank or government control, is given serious consideration. The Universal Basic Income (UBI) where a fixed salary is given to every citizen to reduce poverty and increase equality is suggested but has recently been tested in Switzerland and rejected. Other systems were also considered but seemed too far fetched for practical applications . It seems obvious that changing the current financial protocols will be a major undertaking which will take years of planning, testing and trials.(Note: Sadly, this book is riddled with spelling as well as grammatical mistakes which can be distracting).Fuad R Qubein.Apr. 2018

I’ve been taking an investors class and have been someone on a financial info binge. I feel this book is written in a way so that the average hard working citizen can understand how our Govt and banking institutions operate. We always speculate & hear stories but to see it visually broken down into valid points & arguments was very eye opening.Prior to reading this book I had just had a conversation with a colleague about how we will never be millionaires working a 9-5 and we have to plan for retirement right nowwhen we still have 30 or so years. What about what we need right now at the moment?I also got more than I expected when the author touched on our outdated educational system that does little to prepare graduates for financial freedom. In fact you actually start off in debt from college. Crazy. It’s all one big ponzu scheme. There were some grammatical errors which should be revised and reprinted as I believe this is an excellent book.

This books spits out a lot of truths that many unaware people would find very depressing. The author exposes a lot of facts pertaining to our monetary system, such as the Federal Reserve, over which we have absolutely no control. It is what it is. But you do have the ability to change your status. You do have the ability to improve your life. But do you have the desire? Do you have the drive and ambition? Half the battle of life is know what the rules are for any given situation. This book will expose rules that are in place, rules which you will not be able to change, whether you find them palatable or not. Don't waste your time applying emotion to what is being offered. Learn how to use what is being offered to better your life.

There are not enough good things to say about Revoyr's Southland. The novel is beyond incredible and dare I say that Ms. Revoyr is perhaps one of the best contemporary authors of our time. It is a gripping and wonderful novel about tough times in Los Angeles county. Those who have lived through the era following WWII will relate to the heated, racial tensions between that erupted during the Watts riots. If you are part of the latter generation, you will experience a harsh dose of reality as you move with the main character in her search for the killer of four young African American men. The book is extremely realistic, staying true to the time period but also being captivating in that Revoyr's writing style is both creative and engaging. This novel will speak most heavily to native Angelinos but is transcendent and makes a terrific read for anyone attempting to understand the fabric of the star-studded town of L.A

Southland by Nina Revoyr is a tour de force that tells a story of racial disharmony within the seemingly gentle confines of Los Angeles. With the accounting of two families, one Japanese, one Black, we learn the story of how four young boys are intentionally frozen to death in a meat locker during the Watts Rebellion of 1965.The Store owner Frank Sakai is a Japanese American who has been living relatively peacefully in the mixed racial neighborhood since acquiring the store. He'd been interred with his family at Manzanar and subsequently served in the 442nd Regimental Combat Team of the United States Army, a fighting unit composed almost entirely of American soldiers of Japanese descent who turned out to be the most decorated unit in American history. Returning home after the war he was able to purchase a small grocery story in Central LA.Upon Frank's death in 1994 his granddaughter, a law student, and a black man who works with youth in a mid-city community center team up to find out the facts surrounding the death of the young men, why Frank had left $38,000 to one of them and mostly, who was responsible for the heinous crime. The two initially explore their own family dialogues but find it difficult to pull together the remnants of the story. "No one talked about history" they lament. As the scope of the investigation enlarges and as each piece of the puzzle is moved into place the real story gets more complicated. Soon even they begin to doubt what they find. The accounts of the Japanese Americans starting in 1939 along with the Black family chronicle starting six years later when the family of one of the boys moves from Texas demonstrates brave and stalwart endurance from both factions. I read a review of this book in which the reader said that his book club did not like the book because it was too sad. I feel that the thing that can make history most sad is only if we don't learn from it.

Thought-provoking both as an historical chronicle of a place and time that isn't necessarily described often within mainstream historical discussions and also as a coming-of-age story of the main character, who is learning about herself, her family, their world and how it is also hers.Very effective in setting a context that is not today's world but that clearly shaped today's world, including the people living in that context, whether they realize it or not.Recommend it for those who are willing to look beneath the surface and invest something of themselves into a less-than-easy life experience.

I got this book for my class on Los Angeles history, and I really enjoyed it. The book flowed well and had a very entertaining storyline. This was one book that I actually took the time to read cover to cover rather than skim through. Though its been a while since I read this book, this book makes me smile whenever I think about it. I really appreciated following the narrator's path to self-discovery while she is seeking to unveil the truth about this history. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested.

Had to read this book for one of my classes and it was my favorite I read all quarter. It is smart, and insightful. Talks about issues with race that have prevailed throughout our country's history. It will really make you think about history repeating itself. I'd definitely recommend.Just be aware, it is background heavy, gives lots of detail so sometimes it tends to drag. But the story is wonderful.

I accidentally came across this title when I was looking for a new book to download. I'm so glad I did! It's very well written and although it is a work of fiction it is a historically correct portrayal of some of the terrible injustices in LA's past (and I think a cautionary tale that history repeats itself). As a native Angeleno I think the story and characters captured the tone, mood and "look" of the real LA in the postwar years through the early '90's.I think readers from anywhere will find this a story well told and worth reading.

What a great read - perfect balance of mystery, suspense, and tragedy. The characters are so diverse, yet still very familiar. My only gripe is the cast - it took me a few chapters (& a side note) to get familiar with this sizable group of characters that span across different families and decades. Regardless, this book was *not* disappointing, at all.
