Jen Daley’s “Stitching for the Seasons” is my go to book when planning and executing my new quilt projects. If you or someone you know loves fabric as art, this is a perfect addition to the library. It is a delightful book to just relax, curl up with, and dream about your next project. From my perspective; first, and most importantly, Jen’s instructions are clear, concise and easy to understand. She demonstrates attention to detail and its importance to any project. What used to be intimidating to me when finishing projects is now a joyful process! This book is an all-in-one home run! It will guide any level quilter to turning the ordinary into extraordinary. It’s amazing what a difference embroidery and wool appliqué can make to a project. And it’s amazing the way Jen takes the mystery out of it! There are twenty quilt projects that you can combine with your own touches and imagination and turn it into 200 projects. She shows you the sky is the limit utilizing the seasons as the backdrop. The beautiful photos alone will peak your senses. I can only sum up this review by saying “what fun”; and yes, I highly recommend this book to any quilter. It would make a great gift too! You will not be disappointed.

Detailed instructions make the patterns easy to follow. So many wonderful projects, not sure which to make first!

I want to come home to a place that is filled with the delightful, home-warming projects in this book so that I can “savor” each new season as it comes along, as Jen Daly suggests. What I love about this book is how the projects evoke the emotion of each of the seasons, and I can literally feel my mood change as I flip through the projects - I can practically taste Thanksgiving dinner when I look at her Pumpkin Spice Table Runner, and her Flurries Quilt has me wanting to snuggle in, warm and cozy, while it’s cold outside. Jen has captured the essence of each season beautifully in these projects. I also appreciate the variety offered, whether I want to make a small or large project or whether I’m in the mood for traditional or more whimsical, it’s all right here in this one wonderful book. As always, Jen’s designs and her use of color, fabric choices and sweet embellishments speak to me, and the overarching emotion I feel when I look through her work - and realize that I can recreate her projects for my own home, thanks to this book - is JOY.
