I regret this review can not give justice to this wonderful guide book. I lost my wife of thirty years to Cancer. If I had this book before her passing my life would have been different.Caregiver Susan Brownell shares her many years of experience helping you to make the passing a better time, not only for your loved one and yourself but your relatives and friends. Ms. Brownell covers the many aspects and circumstances that may arise. She explores taking care of the caretaker as well as the patient. She gives many many little things you can do to make the loved one interested and occupied. How to give a better quality life in the final days. Her main message is Love, and she covers this beautifully from all areas.If you have a loved one with Cancer get this book now! I know I made many mistakes this book could have prevented. I think the only thing I did right was showing and expressing love. It was about the last day before my wife's passing, after spending the night at her side, I was heading off to get a little sleep. The usual process was to say "I love you" and she would say "I love you too". This time I said "I love you" and she gave me a sweet smile and said "I know".
When I started reading this I felt it might be too long. But as I read through the words and the innumerable times that Susan was involved in caregiving, I started to reflect on how this book might be read, a few pages at a time when a caregiver needs a bit of care herself, and some gentle, non- judgmental, even not time demanding words.This book covers that type of reading and brought so much of my own family's caregiving experiences to heart.I love the drawings and appreciated the quotes. Your book fills an essential need that is difficult to define yet so many of us have known of what you speak or are going through it at this moment.Well done! Stephanie Atwood
I lost my Dad to cancer in 2000 and everything Ms Brownell wrote about in her book is right on track on dealing with the disease and how to deal with a dying family member! She touched on the right issues and her many suggestions to make the patient's life more enjoyable is exactly right! I didn't have a book like this to read going through my Dad's illness but it would have been most helpful and a welcome guide to have during that time!
This is am AWESOME read! Such a blessing while my husband fought Pancreatic cancer. Made me know we were not alone in this horrible fight! A must read for every caregiver! I purchased 4 to give away to friends who have given me nothing but rave reviews! Susan Brownell wrote with heart and the caregiver in mind! Recommended highly!!

This book was exactly what I was looking for - a guide to competitive gymnastics written for parents of budding gymnasts. Written by the mother of world-champion and Olympic gymnast Jordyn Wieber, this book covers the structure and progression of U.S. competitive gymnastics, and provides advice on how to support your gymnast, and keep yourself sane. Highlights for me were the 3 interviews, one with a nutrition expert, another with a gymnastics sports physician, and another with a clinical psychologist specializing in gymnastics.Note that this is not a memoir of Jordyn's career, although that is covered in brief. It is more shared lessons as a 'gym mom.' My only wishes are that it had covered more in terms of mom competitiveness, and that it had spent more time discussing the average competitive gymnasts career, not only elites. It does have some interesting material on how to get college scholarships, but even that is a very small percentage of competitive gymnasts. A little more time discussing how to handle disappointments, how to know when to quit or whether to quit, and the benefits of competing even if you are not destined for greatness would have been interesting to me. But of course, she is writing from her own personal experience, and Jordyn had an exceptional career all the way through, so that was not her experience.So overall, this is a very good book for moms of gymnasts new to competition. If your daughter has been doing it for awhile, you probably won't learn anything new, but if you are just learning the ropes, this is perfect.
I was hoping this book would reveal the daily impacts on the sport of gymnastic and how it impacts mom's. Instead it portrays how one "privileged" family supported their child in the sport. Don't get me wrong, I commend her for pressing through triumphs....but this book is not realistic! There are hundreds of mom's that know the "rules" of gymnastics.... How to get scholarships etc.. What I find interesting is why she didn't discuss the level of cost, commitment, and parent to parent competitiveness! Why parents are determined NOT to "gym hope" etc. it appears that she was lucky enough to stay at the same place and always had supportive coaching.. This isn't typical....
Not as good as I thought it would be. Poorly written, but still had some good information. I purchased just for advice on how to handle the "mom competitiveness" that was promised in the description of the book. That part was not expanded on and was not helpful. However the book as a whole was okay.
This is a book for gym mothers of little girls who are in junior olimpics gymnastics and TOPs programs. It is an interesting story but not of any interest unless you are already deeply into the gymnastics world. If your daughter is already advanced in gymnastics, like optional level 8, probably it does not contain new information for you.
A quick, fun read by Jordyn Wieber's mom about her life raising one of the world's best gymnasts.
This book gives real insight all that is necessary and needed to support any athlete. Very well written.Rita is a real role model for others.

Rosalind Russel has always been a favorite of mine. Reading her story made me realize that when she died we lost a wonderful person ,not just a wonderful actress!
Just couldn't get into it.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this well written biography on one of Hollywood's best loved actress,the one and only Roz Russell.Being born and raised in Waterbury,Ct. myself, it was really interesting to read about my hometown and how it formed Miss Russell to become the person that she did.This is not one of your typical "kiss-and-tell" books. There are no controversial stories in this book which I found to be quite refreshing.Miss Russell was a deeply religious person but at the same time she is not being portrayed as a person without flaws either.Miss Russell lived a very full,rich life with her husband and her son but her life,unfortunately, was cut short at the age of 69 by cancer.All in all,this biography is a fascinating look at a fascinating woman.I highly recommend it!

One senses that members of her immediate family, as well as good friends and colleagues were interviewed in depth, resulting in a full portrait of this fine woman and superb actress. Her triumphs ("Auntie Mame" and "Gypsy")and her disappointments (the 1946 Oscar loss to Loretta Young, for example) are impartially recounted, leaving the impression of a well-rounded woman and professional, able (to paraphrase) Rudyard Kipling, to treat triumph and disaster just the same. Unfortunately, I have to give atleast 1 star. This is an awful book. Another "biography" that is nothing more than a synopsis of her movies. I couldn't read past the 3rd chapter. Do not waste your money on this book. Watch her movies, you'll have a far better understanding of who Rosalind Russell was.

This set includes the following Baby Loves books:-Gravity-Coding-Thermodynamics-Aerospace EngineeringI won't review each one separately because there are already a lot of reviews on these individual books' listings.We bought this set for our 9 month old after we fell in love with Baby Loves Quantum Physics (not included in this set). Even though it's early for baby to understand these concepts, the author does a great job of making them approachable for young children, and the illustrator does a wonderful job of making the books colorful and entertaining. I love that each book has babies in it - not enough children's books do. My little guy loves looking at the babies and pointing to them.His favorite in this set is Gravity. His least favorite (at least at this age!) is Coding. I was a little disappointed because I work in IT :), but it's more because it's got a little harder words and concepts to break down than the other topics. The great news is that these books can be read for a few years. I love that these provide a foundation for STEM lifelong learning.This set also includes a paper ABC poster. Most of the words are used in the books in some way so your little one will find them familiar. It's maybe 12x12 so it's not huge, but you could laminate it and/or throw it on the wall.My husband has a Physics Ed degree and is a high school science teacher, and he absolutely loves these books too. He wants to take the Thermodynamics one into his class to show his students that are struggling!Overall we love these books and this is a great set to help your baby start learning some complex concepts.
This sounds like a grand idea, but fails completely. It is too abstract to be developmentally sound, and if a child could gain anything from it, he would be old enough to resent being called a baby, which would undo the good. Heed Kirkus Reviews and Leave on the shelf. My set is doing a rapid return to Amazon.
These books are well written and, though some other reviewers have noted that some of the material may be over young heads, I think they do a great job with the artwork and leveled language. If you are like me and want to give gender-neutral baby gifts, this is your go-to set.
My 17 month old baby is obsessed with this books. Gravity is her favorite. Illustrations are great for her age and she already grasped most of the concepts. She says: Gravity! while sliding down at the park! Definitely will buy the rest of the series.
My BF and I bought this for ome of his family member's baby. She loved it and sat on her parents lap having them read to her. Well written for babies with art work that explains the basics well. Very cute!
